What Makes Your Heart Healthy

There are many nutrients have been shown to decrease your risk for heart disease and by including a wide variety of foods that contain them, you will not only protect your heart, but also decrease your chances for cancer, arthritis, dementia and other diseases.

Focus on these nutrients for a healthy heart:

  • Omega-3 fatty acids found in salmon;
  • Monounsaturated fats which are plentiful in nuts, olive oil and avocado;
  • Potassium which you can find in bananas, oranges, potatoes and low fat dairy products;
  • Soluble fiber which is abundant in legumes.

And, chocolate lovers can eat up knowing that cocao is rich in flavanols which help lower blood pressure and prevent blood clots.
